CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Nevada's decision to mail all active voters ballots amid the pandemic has led to historically high return rates and less early voting than in 2016.
With more than two weeks until the election, more than twice as many Nevada voters have returned ballots by mail than in the entire 2016 election.
Election officials reported Monday that nearly 176,000 voters have returned ballots mailed to them in early October.
In 2016, less than 79,000 voters cast ballots absentee or in all-mail precincts. Registered Democrats have returned ballots at higher rates than registered Republicans, who have historically preferred voting on Election Day rather than early.
