DMV Unveils Online Portal For Drivers' License Renewals

People who need to renew their Nevada driver’s license can now do it online.

On Wednesday, the Department of Motor Vehicles rolled out its online system for renewing driver's licenses and ID cards, which will allow up to 75,000 people to skip their trip to a DMV office.

Most drivers between the ages 16 to 70, along with ID cardholders, can use the system if their card has an expiration date of March 12, 2020, or later.

The new cards will use photos already in the system. The online system will help clear the backlog caused by the pandemic.

The department plans to keep the online system permanently.

With fewer people renewing licenses in-person, the DMV can more quickly deal with new car registration and other business.
