CES Cancels In-Person Show, Goes All Digital In 2021

The Consumer Electronics Show is switching to an all-digital format in 2021 due to concerns over the coronavirus pandemic.

The Consumer Technology Association, which sponsors the event, made the announcement Tuesday morning.

The annual event draws more than 170,000 people to Las Vegas. The president and CEO of CTA said it wasn't possible to safely convene thousands of people in Las Vegas in January.

Next year’s show, scheduled to begin Jan. 6, was expected to debut The Boring Company’s underground people-mover system and the Convention Center’s new West Hall expansion.
