Sisolak Agrees To Delay Legislative Special Session To July

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Gov. Steve Sisolak agreed on Monday to Democrats' request to delay convening a special session of the Legislature until early July.

His announcement reverses expectations that lawmakers would return to Carson City before the end of the fiscal year on June 30.

The Legislature's leading Democrats said more time was needed to develop safety protocols in line with the state's coronavirus plan that limits large gatherings and still allow lobbyists and other members of the public to participate in the political process.

Sisolak has not announced a final agenda for the special session and whether it will include only budgetary matters or criminal justice policy as well.
