Las Vegas Police Fatally Shoot Suspect During Carjacking Attempt

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Las Vegas police say a suspect is dead after being shot by police when he allegedly tried to steal another driver's vehicle at gunpoint.

Police say the incident occurred Tuesday after a patrol officer began following a sedan that was being driven erratically on Interstate 15 and that the officer then determined the sedan had been stolen previously.

According to police, the male driver of the stolen sedan continued driving erratically in the city while being followed by police. Police say the sedan eventually stopped and the suspect tried to commit the carjacking while holding a gun.

Police say officers who were following the stolen sedan intervened and shot the suspect. He was pronounced dead at a hospital. His name and age weren't released.
