National Forest Starts Fire Restrictions Early Because Of Virus Concerns

Fire restrictions are now in effect for the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest. Forest Fire Management Officer Gwen Sanchez announced the safety measures in a video posted to Twitter.

"The safety of our public and firefighters is our number one priority. We're implementing fire restrictions earlier than usual this year to reduce the number of human-caused fires, to reduce firefighter exposure to the COVID-19 pandemic,"

The restrictions prohibit outdoor fires, including grills, barbecues and stoves. Smoking outside is also banned.
