Report: Alpine Motel Owner Part Of DHS Investigation

A downtown Las Vegas apartment building where a fire killed six people was involved in a Homeland Security Department drug cartel investigation in 2019.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports it found the link to Alpine Motel Apartments owner Adolfo Orozco and his properties in records the paper requested while looking into the city’s response to the fire.

The Homeland Security investigation focused on drugs, guns and money laundering connected to cartels and the Mexican Mafia.

Records show enforcement personnel were instructed to stay away from Orozco’s properties or receive approval before initiating any enforcement actions.

The RJ speculates this could be a reason the Alpine apartments went more than 30 months without an inspection.
