UNR Not Refunding Students Moving Out Of Dorms Due To Outbreak

The University of Nevada, Reno is drawing criticism over its announcement that students leaving their dormitories because of the coronavirus would not receive refunds for the remaining days they’ve paid for in the school year.

The Reno Gazette-Journal reports that UNR has asked students to sign up for appointments to check out of their dorm rooms between Friday and next Wednesday, saying the times were designed to ensure social distancing.

The university also said that students could ask for a waiver for extenuating circumstances such as homelessness, those in foster care and students from other countries.
