Las Vegas Airport Tower Closes After Controller Gets Virus

LAS VEGAS (AP) — The Las Vegas airport is running with reduced operations after an air traffic controller tested positive for the coronavirus, temporarily closing the control tower.

The Federal Aviation Administration said early Thursday that airplanes coming into McCarran International Airport were being guided by other nearby controllers.

It's the second control tower in the U.S. to close this week because of the virus. The FAA on Tuesday closed the tower at Chicago's Midway International Airport after several technicians tested positive.
