On Heels Of Nevada Caucus, Democrats Want Switch To Primary

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Top Democrats in Nevada began calling this week for the state to switch to a presidential primary, The move comes after the state's presidential caucuses last weekend.

 

Former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid helped Nevada move to its coveted early caucus status in 2008 and was the first to issue the call.

He says Nevada should make it easier for people to participate by switching to a primary. Agreeing with him are Democratic Gov. Steve Sisolak, U.S. Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto, Nevada Democratic Party chair William McCurdy and Democraitc Assembly Speaker Jason Frierson.

 

Frierson says he's working on legislation to change Nevada law to a primary.
