LAS VEGAS (AP) — Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders' trademark policy proposal is dividing the labor movement.
Sanders is pushing single-payer health care dubbed "Medical for All" to replace private insurance. But some unions like the insurance they've spent years or decades negotiating for their members.
The issue has flared up in Nevada, which is home to the powerful Culinary Union, which represents workers in Las Vegas casinos. The Culinary Union's objections to Medicare for All has triggered a war of words with Sanders' backers.
The rift between Sanders and some unions is almost certain to intensify in other states. Nevada's caucuses are being held Saturday.
