Officials Probing Death At Gold Mine Site In Northern Nevada

EUREKA, Nev. (AP) — Authorities are investigating the death of a man at a large gold mine site in northern Nevada.

The Eureka County sheriff said Friday the man was pronounced dead about 8 a.m. Thursday at Goldstrike mine. His name and cause and manner of death weren't immediately made public and the sheriff didn't say whether foul play was suspected.

The sprawling mine site northwest of Carlin is operated by the Nevada Gold Mines joint venture. The sheriff says the U.S. Mine Safety and  Health Administration was notified.
