ELKO, Nev. (AP) — Unseasonably cold weather in northern Nevada broke a record in Eureka County and could push overnight lows below zero for the first time this season in some areas early Tuesday.
The National Weather Service says the low of 7 degrees at the Eureka Airport Monday broke the old record of 15 set in 2011.

The mercury dropped as low as 9 degrees at Jarbidge near the Idaho line, 12 at Jackpot and 15 at Ely.
The service says a low of minus 8 degrees is forecast for Ely on Tuesday, minus 2 at McDermitt and zero at Elko.
