CCSD School Board To End Pray At Beginning Of Meetings

The Clark County School Board will no longer begin its meetings with a prayer following a complaint from the Freedom from Religion Foundation.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports the Wisconsin-based non-profit contacted the Clark County School District on December 20 with a letter objecting to what they called “unconstitutional prayers” at Clark County School Board meetings, referencing the one that opened the December 12 meeting.

The letter cited the discomfort caused to people who are non-religious, who must decide whether or not to go along with the religious display.

A letter to the group from CCSD’s general counsel dated January 10 said the board would end prayers, which usually followed the Pledge of Allegiance at board meetings.
