Reno Crafters Help Australian Wildlife Impacted By Fires

A group of Reno crafters has joined a worldwide effort to create cotton and flannel pouches and mittens for kangaroos and other animals injured by the ongoing Australian bushfires, the Reno Gazette-Journal reports.

The Reno group have been making pouches for newborn kangaroos and microbats with patterns that range from just a few inches to two feet across.

The World Wildlife Fund estimates the fires have killed  an estimated 1.25 billion animals since they began in September.

The Animal Rescue Collective out of Brisbane, Australia called for mittens and pouches and the world has responded.
