SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Authorities say three people have died after two cars collided on a freeway in southern Utah.
The Utah Highway Patrol said in a news release that the crash happened Sunday around 7:20 p.m. on SR-89 in Kane County.
State troopers say a Ford van heading southbound crossed the center line for an unknown reason.
It hit a SUV going northbound.
UHP officials say three people in the SUV died from their injuries.
The driver of the van was airlifted to a hospital in St. George. That person's injuries were not immediately released.
A third car crashed after hitting debris from the initial collision. Nobody in that vehicle was reported injured.
The identities of those killed have not been released pending notification of family.
The crash investigation remains ongoing.
