LAS VEGAS (AP) — Hundreds of steel posts along the Las Vegas Strip will be shortened to address safety concerns.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that said 283 of the 4,500 bollards — large steel posts aimed at protecting pedestrians from vehicles— will be shortened.

Generally, the bollards are 54 inches tall. Those that will be shortened will stand 36 inches tall.
Discussions regarding the installation of bollards started after a driver plowed into pedestrians on the sidewalk in front of the Paris Las Vegas and Planet Hollywood Resort in December 2015.
