The city of Las Vegas announced it will close a block of downtown to all traffic and pedestrians next week.
First Street from East Clark Avenue to East Bonneville Avenue will close beginning August 19 to facilitate construction of the new Las Vegas Municipal Court building.
The $56 million project will be a four-story building with seven courtrooms and is expected to be complete in March 2021.
The city said pedestrians and drivers can use Main Street or any of the streets to the east as alternate routes to accommodate the construction.
