Clark County Approves $6.1 Million To Help Homeless Families

The Clark County Commission approved $6.1 million for housing assistance programs intended to help homeless families.

Clark County Social Service Director Michael Pawlak says one goal is to address a bottleneck by helping 200 families with rent, deposits and other expenses to get into homes.

The funding will also go toward expanding transitional shelters to increase capacity.

This decision falls under Clark County’s plan to use $12 million in licensing fee revenue from marijuana businesses to combat homelessness. The commission allotted $1.8 million to a youth shelter last month.
