Las Vegan James Holzhauer’s 32-game “Jeopardy!” winning streak came to end.
The episode was recorded weeks ago and began airing in some cities this morning, although it won’t air in Las Vegas until 7 p.m.
The 34-year-old sports better had been poised to become the game show’s all-time money winner, coming close to Ken Jennings’ record $2.5 million win in 2004. Holzhauer’s reign came to an end when he lost to Emma Boettcher, a librarian from Chicago, in Final Jeopardy!.
Holzhauer still holds the top 16 places for the most money won in a single show, and during his streak won an average of $77,000 per game.
He took home almost $2.5 million and helped "Jeopardy!" score its best ratings in almost 15 years.
To celebrate Holzhauer’s success, Clark County declared May 2 “James Holzhauer Day” and county officials gave him a ceremonial key to the Las Vegas Strip.
