Several Las Vegas-Area Students Arrested In Threats, Gun Cases

LAS VEGAS (AP) — School police in Las Vegas say several students were arrested this week after officers investigated social media threats to shoot people, and a 15-year-old was arrested with a loaded stolen handgun at a high school campus.

Clark County School police Sgt. Bryan Zink said Thursday that tips received through Nevada SafeVoice led to the arrest of a 13-year-old Silvestri Junior High student at her home on Wednesday and the arrest of a 16-year-old Valley High School student at his home on Monday.

That's a smartphone app for students and parents to anonymously report information.

Both students face felony terrorist threat charges.

Also on Wednesday, Zink says 15-year-old male student was arrested on campus at Chaparral High School with a loaded 9mm handgun in his backpack.

He's facing weapon-on-school-property and felony stolen gun charges.
