LAS VEGAS (AP) — Businesses operating franchised IHOP restaurants have agreed to pay $700,000, provide training and monitoring and take other steps to settle a sexual harassment and retaliation lawsuit filed in federal court in Nevada by civil rights enforcers.
The nine franchisee defendants don't acknowledge liability in the consent decree, which a U.S. District Court judge approved Tuesday.
Court documents identify the franchisees as Lucina Management Inc. Centennial Food Corp., Nellis Food Corp., Vegas Food Corp., Cheyenne Food Corp., Craig Food Corp., Bayshore Food Corp. DiHOP Corp. and Cooper Street Clam & Oyster Bar LLC.
The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission alleged that business personnel subjected female employees to groping, propositions for sex, unwanted touching and other acts and company retaliated against workers who complained by firing them or reducing their work hours.
