LAS VEGAS (AP) — The overseers of Nevada's state higher education system have voted to conduct a national search for the next University of Nevada Las Vegas president but also to give acting President Marta Meana a chance to be considered.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that the Nevada System of Higher Education Board of Regents voted Friday to launch a national search while also waving waive code provision so Meana can apply.
Meana began serving as acting president in July 2018 after Len Jessup left UNLV amid fractured relations with the Nevada board to become president of Claremont (Calif.) Graduate University.
Faculty Senate Chair Douglas Unger told the Nevada regents that Meana is healing relationships within the university and the community.
