Hundreds Of Volunteers Work To Count Homeless In Southern Nevada

Hundreds of volunteers worked through the night Tuesday and into the morning Wednesday to conduct the annual homeless count for Clark County.

The Southern Nevada Homeless Census is a requirement in order for the county to receive some federal grants that support the homeless.

The results also help the different municipal jurisdictions work together on various issues to best address homelessness.

Tuesday night the volunteers counted homeless people in the urban Las Vegas Valley, then Wednesday volunteers counted homeless youth during school hours and canvass rural areas of the county.

In 2017, Clark County had the eighth-largest homeless population in the nation.
