Former LVCVA Chairman Agrees To Fine In Ethics Violation Case

The former board chairman of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority has agreed to pay a fine for violating state ethics laws.

Lawrence Weekly will pay nearly $2,400 in fines for using agency airline gift cards for personal use.

The Clark County Commissioner acknowledged to the Nevada Ethics Commission that he abused his position of public trust.

In a 10-page agreement with the commission, Weekly described his misconduct as “willful” after purchasing a trip in 2016 with $1,400 of Southwest Airline gift cards given to the tourism agency.

Weekly stepped down as board chairman earlier this month.
