Reno Gazette-Journal Has New Executive Editor, Brian Duggan

RENO, Nev. (AP) — The Reno Gazette-Journal's investigations editor has been named its top editor.

The largest newspaper in northern Nevada, owned by Gannett Co. Inc., reported on its website late Friday that Brian Duggan will replace Kelly Scott as executive editor. She left in July to become vice president of content at Alabama Media Group.

Duggan has been RGJ's investigations editor since 2013. He joined the newspaper in 2011 to cover Reno City Hall.

The Nevada native earlier covered business for the Nevada Appeal and state politics for the Bismarck Tribune in North Dakota.

Greg Burton, west region editor for USA TODAY Network, said Duggan has been instrumental in developing "the best watchdog work in Reno."

Duggan says he's humbled and excited to take on what he calls the "honor of a lifetime."
