Officials Identify Man Shot Dead By Guards At Nevada Casino

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities have identified a 53-year-old man who police say wielded a handgun before he was shot and killed by security guards inside a suburban Las Vegas casino hotel on New Year's Day.

 

The Clark County coroner said Thursday that Shannon Michael Howell of Las Vegas was shot multiple times and his death on Tuesday at the Green Valley Ranch resort in Henderson is classified as a homicide.

Henderson police Officer Katrina Rothmeyer says an investigation is continuing and the department is not immediately releasing new information.

 

Police Lt. Kirk Moore told reporters that patrons noticed Howell with a gun inside the casino and three guards confronted him in a hotel lobby before two armed guards shot him.

No other injuries were reported and the casino was not evacuated.
