Wynn Resorts Sues Resorts World Over Building Design

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A lawsuit filed by Wynn Resorts claims the Resorts World property under construction across the street from the Wynn Las Vegas and Encore is too similar.

The company filed a trademark infringement and unfair competition lawsuit in federal court last week, seeking an injunction prohibiting Resort World Las Vegas from using Wynn's architectural trade dress of the buildings.

Resorts World is building a $4 billion, 3,000-room resort that's expected to open in late 2020.

The company says in the lawsuit that the architectural design for the Resort World property is "substantially similar" to Wynn's copyrighted architectural work, claiming it would cause confusion for the public.

Representatives of Resort World declined to provide comment about the lawsuit to the Las Vegas Review-Journal on Monday.
