Save Red Rock Drops Civil Claims Against Clark County

An environmental nonprofit is dropping its lawsuit aimed at stopping a proposed housing development near Red Rock Canyon.

Save Red Rock dismissed all civil claims against the county and developer Gypsum Resources over a plan to develop thousands of homes overlooking Red Rock Canyon.

The group’s attorney, Justin Jones, was elected to the Clark County Commission Tuesday.

Jones told the Las Vegas Review-Journal Save Red Rock will continue to fight the proposal, but resources would be better focused on convincing the rest of the commissioners why the project doesn’t make sense.

With the conclusion of the lawsuit, Jones also said he no longer represents the nonprofit. He will be sworn in as a commissioner in January.
