Helicopter Makes Emergency Landing, Clips Line, Starts Fire

RENO, Nev. (AP) — Authorities in northern Nevada say a law enforcement helicopter clipped a power line while making an emergency landing, starting a brush fire that resulted in a freeway closure north of Carson City.

There was no immediate report of any injuries or on what prompted the Washoe County Sheriff's Office to make the emergency landing Saturday afternoon in the Washoe Valley area, but the Sheriff's Office described the fire as "small."

The Nevada Highway Patrol said Interstate 580 was closed in both directions.
