Lake Mead's Bathtub Ring Might Get Bigger

Lake Mead

Lake Mead

The infamous bathtub ring around Lake Mead isn’t going away any time soon.

It will likely get larger as the lake continues to drop due to ongoing drought and low snowpack levels in the Rockies.

Without significant rainfall this summer and fall, and above-average snow this upcoming winter, Lake Mead and Lake Powell -- the Colorado River’s other storage system -- could dip to 44 percent of capacity by next year.
