Las Vegas City Council Approves Plans For New Downtown Resort Project

Plans for a new Fremont Street casino-hotel were approved by the Las Vegas City Council Wednesday.

Derek Stevens, who also owns the D Las Vegas, bought the property that was previously home to Las Vegas Club, Mermaids and the Glitter Gulch Strip Club.

He leveled the buildings on the block last year. The new 1.2 million-square foot resort will be the first bottom-up resort project downtown has seen in years.
