Despite Lower Unemployment, Food Stamp Enrollment Remains High In Nevada

As unemployment in Nevada has shrunk significantly, enrollment in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, also referred to as food stamps, has remained high, the Nevada Independent reports.

The Nevada Independent reports that the number of SNAP cases nearly quadrupled from the start of 2007 to the spring of 2018.

According to the report, nearly one out of every seven Nevadans has turned to the federally funded SNAP program at some point during the last year.
