LAS VEGAS (AP) — Prosecutors say a 52-year-old Nevada man who managed a multimillion dollar telemarketing scam has been sentenced to five years and three months in federal prison.
Acting U.S. Attorney Dayle Elieson said Monday that Michael Rossi of Las Vegas also was ordered to pay nearly $2.8 million in restitution and serve three years of supervised release for his guilty plea last December to conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud.
Elieson says 58-year-old co-defendant Glen Burke of Las Vegas was sentenced in March to more than seven years in prison for orchestrating the scheme.
Prosecutors say telemarketers told victims they'd won prizes like a Chevrolet Camaro, a Boston Whaler boat, a diamond-and-sapphire bracelet or a cruise, but they needed to send in hundreds or sometimes thousands of dollars to collect.
