Nevada's senate race this fall took an unexpected turn as one Republican candidate dropped out to run for a House seat instead.
Danny Tarkanian, who was challenging Dean Heller in the Republican primary for the Senate seat, told the Reno Gazette Journal and the Nevada Independent he was going to shift his attention to running in the third congressional district.
Tarkanian said the move came at the request of President Trump.
In a tweet Friday morning, Trump suggested Tarkanian drop out of the Senate race and instead run for a seat in the House.
Trump said, "It would be great for the Republican Party of Nevada, and it's [sic] unity" were Heller to run for the Senate unopposed.
Tarkanian has sought the third congressional district's seat before, losing to Jacky Rosen in 2016.
