CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — State legislators have rejected efforts to pursue a presidential pardon for a New Hampshire man in prison for his role organizing armed backers of Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy after a 2014 standoff.
The New Hampshire House on Thursday has voted down the resolution for Gerald "Jerry" DeLemus.
He received seven years in prison in 2017 for ties to the confrontation that became a rallying cry for those who want vast stretches of federal land in the U.S. West put under local control.
Charges against Bundy and others were dismissed in January.
DeLemus organized armed patrols and was an intermediary between a self-styled militia and local authorities.
He tried to withdraw guilty pleas to conspiracy to commit an offense against the U.S. and interstate travel in aid of extortion.
