Laxalt Expected To Release Plan To Put Police Officers At Schools

Nevada attorney general Adam Laxalt may soon release a proposal to install police officers at schools around the state.

Laxalt told the Reno Gazette-Journalthat’s one of several top anti-school shooting recommendations raised during a closed-door meeting this week with school and police officials.

It’s not, however, clear about the cost of such an endeavor, nor who or how it would be paid for to put officers in each of Nevada’s 700 public schools.

School teachers are already allowed to carry guns on campus under state law.

This meeting happened two days after Gov. Brian Sandoval held a summit of his own with school superintendents about school safety this week.
