Despite Outcry From Neighbors, Clark County Issues Permit For 2nd Asphalt Plant

Clark County’s Department of Air Quality issued a permit on Friday that will allow an asphalt company to open a second plant in the Spring Valley area despite objections from residents.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports 21 people spoke against Wells Cargo opening a second asphalt plant, and the county received 64 written comments in opposition.

They testified that dust from the current plant is excessive and a second plant will only serve to exacerbate the issue.

The permit awarded Friday will allow Wells Cargo’s second plant to produce 560,000 tons of asphalt every year.
