Nevada Gaming officials are moving to assess whether casinos should be allowed to host marijuana industry conferences and whether their employees can invest in the industry.
Governor Brian Sandoval convened the state’s Gaming Policy Committee in Las Vegas Wednesday and hopes to have a recommendation for lawmakers by the end of February.
The Reno Gazette-Journal reports Sandoval has expressed frustration with the lack of federal guidance on the matter, wanting to know whether they intend to intervene in states that have legalized marijuana.
Since recreational marijuana became legal, casinos have made it clear that possession and consumption on the property are illegal, but cannabis-related conventions and business investments have been more of a gray area.
