Dept. Of Education Puts New Gender Diversity Regulations On Hold

The Nevada Department of Education has put on hold gender diversity regulations after hearing from community members Tuesday at a public meeting many of them opposing the measures.

The regulations being considered would require the state to provide a policy that ensures a safe and respectful learning environment for students with diverse gender identities.

The Nevada Independent reports that State Superintendent Steve Canavero delayed the implementation of the regulations in part because the Clark County School District is in the process of creating its own gender diversity policy.

The school district will host a series of public meetings on the issue starting Friday.
