Electric car manufacturer Tesla announced the long-anticipated release of its electric semi truck this week.
It was big news for those in the semi truck industry, and CEO Elon Musk appeared last night at a release event in Hawthorne, Calif.
The model is the first electric big rig truck from a company that usually makes luxury vehicles. Tesla recently hit some speedbumps with production of its Model 3 at the giant gigafactory near Reno.
The vehicle is behind schedule, and Tesla stocks took a hit as a result. The new semi truck vehicle will start production in 2019, although no price tag was mentioned at the release event.
