Clark County On Track For Deadliest Year For Pedestrian, Bicycle Accidents

A bicyclist was struck and killed by a vehicle late Tuesday afternoon near Flamingo Road and S. Eastern Avenue.

That accident was on the heels of a crash where a pedestrian was killed on Friday after being hit by a vehicle near Boulder Highway and Nellis Boulevard.

These accidents add to what could be the deadliest year on record for bicyclists and pedestrians in Southern Nevada.

As of October 30, Clark County saw 59 pedestrian fatalities, up from 41 at the same point last year.

Meanwhile, five bicyclists died during that same time period — one more than at the same point last year.

It’s believed that poor lighting and visibility are often factors in accidents involving pedestrians and bicyclists.
