Nevada Attorney General Adam Laxalt has explained some of his opposition to discussions by the city of Reno to file suit against manufacturers of prescription opioids.
In a letter to Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve that was made public, Laxalt says he is afraid any suit filed by a city in Nevada could limit the potential cash settlements the state could receive in any litigation.
Laxalt explained his office has been working with 41 other state attorneys general on litigation concerning opioid use, and that efforts by cities may undermine that work.
