County Commissioner Giunchigliani Running For Governor

Clark County Commissioner Chris Giunchigliani announced Wednesday she’s running to replace Governor Brian Sandoval, who is leaving because of term limits.

Giunchigliani told supporters and media outside Las Vegas Academy she's eschewing partisan politics in favor of what's best for the state:

"I put that aside because if it's good for Nevada families and their communities, it's good enough to pass,” she said, “So, I'm effective and I get things done."

Giunchigliani faces primary opposition from fellow commissioner Steve Sisolak.  Retired Nevada Senator Harry Reid endorsed Sisolak last week.

On the Republican side, State Treasurer Dan Schwartz and bike shop owner Jared Fisher are officially running.

Attorney General Adam Laxalt postponed an announcement of his candidacy after the October 1 shooting in Las Vegas.
