A forum planned for next week at Dixie State University will look at Zion National Park’s overwhelmed transportation system and address how the park’s shuttle system no longer accommodates the annual visitation numbers.
Zion remains on pace to set a new record for visitors this year.
Park officials are in the midst of developing a new visitor management plan - with recent drafts suggesting that a reservation system could be implemented to limit the number of people allowed into the park at any given time.
The crowds continue to stay slightly ahead of last year’s record pace with a 5 percent increase over 2016, when the park ended up with 4.3 million for the year.
