This time of year would traditionally see the annual Bullhead City Regatta, a float down the Colorado River, but it was canceled due to safety concerns last year.
That's not stopping area residents from creating their own version though, to the chagrin of city officials.
The Mohave Daily News reports plans have been floated for an unofficial regatta to take place Saturday as a tribute to the canceled event.

City officials say they can't stop people from legally floating on the river themselves, but warned residents that safety officials who would usually be on hand during the regatta would not be available at the same capacity.
Those safety concerns are part of what led lawmakers to vote to cancel the event, citing the strain on resources.
