Excessive Heat Warning Through Thursday For Northern Nevada

RENO, Nev. (AP) — National Weather Service officials who spent the winter cranking out record snowfall reports in northern Nevada are having a hard time keeping up with all the heat records falling in one of the hottest summers the region has ever seen.

Service meteorologists in Reno upgraded a series of heat advisories Wednesday to an excessive heat warning stretching from northeast California through north-central Nevada through 11 p.m. Thursday.

The high on Tuesday tied the record 103 degrees at Reno-Tahoe International Airport. It's forecast to reach 105 Wednesday and top the century mark again Thursday and Friday. The normal maximum high for Reno for the month of August is 90 degrees.
