An anti-marijuana campaign took aim at Nevada during a teleconference yesterday.
The group Smart Approaches to Marijuana hammered the state for its regulations on the legal cannabis market. Kevin Sabet, president of the group, said the state has weak restrictions on edibles and concentrates, a lax tracking system and advertising rules that will increase the risks to public health.
The Las Vegas Review Journal reports state tax officials refuted these claims, saying that the governor and the Nevada Department of Taxation have taken careful precautions to ensure the industry is well regulated and restricted.
The state also created a marijuana task force, which includes officials from law enforcement, public health, social services, public safety, local governments and the marijuana industry. Smart Approaches to Marijuana opposed the ballot measure to legalize recreational marijuana.
