CCSD To Get $34 Million For Struggling Students

Clark County School District is set to receive the lion’s share of money handed out from the state to help struggling students.

The state of Nevada is delivering an extra $34 million to help poor students or those learning English. The funding was announced Thursday during the state Board of Education meeting.

Clark County is receiving all but $1.8 million of the state’s funds that will go to benefit 30,000 students statewide.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports the money can be used by schools on programs and services specifically targeting the two categories of students who meet a set of criteria including standardized test scores, free and reduced lunch fees and attendance at a school that is not already receiving Victory or Zoom school funds.
