Las Vegas City Council To Vote Next Week On Soccer Team Lease Of Cashman

The Las Vegas City Council will vote next week on a stadium lease agreement for a United Soccer League team to play at Cashman Field in 2018.

The proposal calls for a 15-year stadium lease agreement between the city and Las Vegas Soccer to run from January 1 until 2032. The Las Vegas franchise would likely play in the Western Conference, where Reno, Phoenix and LA Galaxy 11 are among the 15 teams.

The USL team would share Cashman with the 51s baseball team. The USL is a men’s minor league that feeds into Major League Soccer.

Mayor Carolyn Goodman has been trying to entice a professional soccer team to Cashman Field for years. The proposed lease agreement allows the city to terminate if the city enters agreements with any professional leagues at Cashman.
